Wow. Beautiful, deep aromas of blackberries, blueberries and black olives. Crushed stone, too. Full-bodied and very layered with creamy and velvety tannins that are chewy and polished. Layered and impressive. Very cool and fresh, yet there’s excellent depth of fruit. Try after 2025.

Pear skin, lemon zest, cooked apple and crushed stones on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity and a creamy texture. Firm, focused finish. Some sorbet, too. 77% sauvignon blanc, 16% semillon and 7% sauvignon blanc musqué. Barrel fermented and aged in used French oak. Drink or hold.

Blackberry, black chocolate and blueberries on the nose, following through to a medium-to full-bodied palate with brambleberry, cedar and lightly earthy character. Medium finish. Needs time to open. Lovely center palate. Try after 2023, but already very attractive.

“A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon (from Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper vineyard in Oakville), 47% Merlot (from Houyi vineyard on Pritchard Hill) and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2016 Reserve Proprietary Red was aged for 22 months in French oak, 95% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a wonderfully fragrant nose of violets, black cherries, warm plums and wild blueberries over a core of cassis, cedar chest and dark chocolate with hints of anise and underbrush. Full-bodied, rich and incredibly lively, it has loads of spicy sparks and a fantastically velvety texture, finishing long with savory and earthy notions coming through.”
